About The Providence Athenæum

The Providence Athenæum, a member-supported library on Benefit Street, has been a central part of Providence’s cultural scene for nearly two centuries. This historic library has hosted famous writers and thinkers, offering a space for reading, learning, and engaging discussions. Its goal is to stimulate minds, inspire creativity, and encourage public conversation.

The Children’s Library at the Athenæum is a special spot designed just for kids. It’s a tech-free zone where children can engage in natural play, get creative, explore, and learn. Surrounded by books, puzzles, plush toys, art materials, and games, it’s a place where children are free to be themselves and enjoy the magic of imagination.
