The Fort Pitt Museum is a two-floor, 12,000 square foot museum where visitors will learn everything about the story of Western Pennsylvania’s pivotal role during the French & Indian War, the American Revolution, and more!
The museum provides visitors with a rich understanding of the world-changing event that happens in Western Pennsylvania through interactive exhibitions, life-like historical figures, and artifacts.
Exhibitions include The Pittsburgh, Virginia exhibition which focuses on the turbulent events of 1774, when the two colonies fought for control of Pittsburgh, while Lord Dunmore’s War put the fate of the Ohio Country and all of its inhabitants at stake; the Fort Pitt: Keystone of the Frontier, in which you’ll discover the role of the region in the French & Indian War, American Revolution, and the Early Republic; A Brief History of 18th Century Pittsburgh in which you will find descriptions from historical figures, combined with images and objects from the period; the First Floor Gallery; and so much more!
