October is quickly fading into November as the leaves begin to fall and the winter fast approaches. This can only mean one thing for kids young and old, Halloween is right around the corner! With the holiday falling on a Thursday this year, most of the big events taking place will be this weekend from the 25th-27th. Check out this list of the best events and activities you and your kids won’t want to miss!

Experience the Denver Zoo come alive with Halloween spirit! Bring your costumes and experience Halloween among the wildlife, complete with trick-or-treating stations, creepy-crawly animal demos, character meet-and-greets, family-friendly live entertainment, and much more!

Colorado is home to not only one, but TWO awesome Boo at the Zoo events! For those in Colorado Springs (or families in Denver looking for a fun day-trip), check out the Boo at the Zoo at the Cheyenne Mountain Zoo for more Halloween fun. Tickets can sell out, so it’s best to book in advance online (you also save 5 bucks a ticket!). Don’t forget your costumes!

Boo at the Zoo isn’t the only fun taking place at the Denver Zoo this weekend, they are also hosting two other unique events later in the evening: Harmony Hill Bigfoot Festival and Woodland Hollow. Explore a cornucopia of activities, including an immersive art walk, axe throwing, cornhole, elaborate pumpkin carvings, and so much more!

Grab your costumes and candy buckets with this fun, safe and unique trick-or-treat experience at the Butterfly Pavilion! Here kids can trick-or-treat throughout the exhibits and enjoy other fun activities like crafts, prizes, and special October-only exhibits and experiences such as the Giant Katydid Encounter and Spider Pavilion. This event is included for free with the price of general admission!

What better place to spend a Halloween weekend then at one of the top children’s museums in the country? The Children’s Museum of Denver at Marsico Campus is hosting a three-day Halloween event featuring crafts, carnival games, special characters, spooky science experiments, and of course lots and lots of treats! This event is free for members, and only $16 for most everyone else (kids under 1 are free, ages 1 & 60+ are $16).

Celebrate the joys of Fall, Halloween, and family fun at the Weekend Carnival event at Rocky Mountain Pumpkin Ranch in Longmont! Tons of pumpkins will be found here, along with an array of activities and rides that are fun for the whole family. Events include pony rides, petting zoo (with llamas!), hay maze, dragon roller coaster, fire truck slide, and MUCH MORE! Admission and Parking is totally free, with events and rides on a “pay per activity” basis.

All aboard! The Colorado Railroad Museum is hosting the perfect family-friendly Halloween event that includes tricks, treats, and of course trains! Here you can ride in vintage passenger cars pulled by a Steam Locomotive, visit the Olde Railroaders Silly Graveyard, take a ride on the “not so spooky” Haunted Railcar, and much more. Don’t forget your costumes and candy bags, as kids can visit all the trick-or-treat stops as well.

For a truly unique and adventurous Halloween that your kids will never forget, consider a true Night at the Museum experience at the Denver Museum of Nature & Science! This is an all-inclusive event in which you and your kids can enjoy exploring the museum after hours, go trick-or-treating in full costume throughout the museum exhibits, and finally find your “resting place” in their famous diorama halls. Hot breakfast will be served in the morning!

A spooktacular party for the little ones! Join Kids Wonder for their 1st ever Halloween Hoopla, featuring plenty of treats, tricks and Halloween fun! Kids Wonder is an indoor-playground that offers educational and safe play areas that are diverse and engaging for younger kids & toddlers of all ages. “Colorado Mommies” are providing a Trunk or Treat from 4-6 PM, and there will be Denver Kid Magic at 3pm as well!

The Downtown Aquarium in Denver will be hosting a Kids Halloween Fest that is sure to be a fun time for all! This fest is free with general admission, and kids in costume get in for ½ price! Some of the awesome entertainment provided includes games and prizes, animal appearances, mad science experiments, costume contest, monster mural and pumpkin painting, and so much more! Of course, there will be trick-or-treating as well throughout the aquarium exhibits!

The amazing facility that is the Ridge Recreation Center will be coming alive with the Halloween spirit this Saturday evening! This affordable event is only $5 per child, and free for all adults. Kids will love trick-or-treating at various tables throughout the rec center in full costume, and of course swimming is part of the fun as well! The indoor pool at Ridge offers a water park that has a huge water slide, kids splash zones, and so much more!
