Running errands with kids in tow can be an exhausting task. Luckily there are several local shopping centers that have free children’s play areas. Whether your child needs a break between stores or if you need to give them an incentive to make it through the day, you have some great options. Here are some of our favorite malls and stores with free play areas in and around Denver.

Where: 3000 East 1st Avenue, Denver, CO, USA

Dinosaur Gulch presented by Denver Museum of Nature and Science is a free children’s play area located in Cherry Creek Shopping Center.

Children will love exploring these soft play structures shaped like their favorite dinosaurs. Keep in mind, there is a fee to park at Cherry Creek Shopping Center.

Where: 14500 West Colfax Avenue, Lakewood, CO, USA

Not only is Colorado Mills the area’s only indoor Outlet Mall, it is also home to the new “Mars Outpost” which is a free kid’s play area presented by Denver Museum of Nature & Science.

Your children will love learning about the planet Mars in this innovative play area. Please note, the play area is only open Thursday through Sunday during mall hours.

If shopping designer brands is on your to-do list, make a day of it by going to Denver Premium Outlets.

Families can enjoy a large outdoor play area that is both physically challenging and safe. Denver Premium Outlets also has several family friendly amenities including 4 Nursing Mothers Lounges and 8 Family Restrooms.

Where: 1 West Flatiron Crossing Drive, Broomfield, CO, USA

Located in the north metro, FlatIron Crossing is a premier shopping and entertainment destination.

It is home to several kids stores and destinations and they have a free play area called Kids Crossing where children can burn off energy between stops. During summer months, be sure to check out the complementary bean bag toss and giant chess and checker boards near the food court.

Where: 9800 East IKEA Way, Centennial, CO, USA

It’s impossible to miss the giant blue and yellow IKEA located off of I-25 and County Line Road.

If you need anything from faux flowers to furniture, swing by and treat yourself to some solo shopping time courtesy of IKEA’s Småland Play Facility. Parents can drop off children who are 37-52” and potty trained for supervised play on-site. Please note, parents must stay on the premises while their children visit Småland so plan to stay within the store.

REI Denver is a great place to get everything a family needs for their next adventure.

While parents are busy checking out the awesome outdoor gear, kids can enjoy a mountain themed play area. The play area is located near the Children’s Clothing section.

Where: 8501 West Bowles Avenue, Littleton, CO, USA

Southwest Plaza in Littleton is home to many family friendly businesses such as SeaQuest Interactive Aquarium and Round 1 Bowling & Amusement.

Families can also enjoy a free Children’s Play area filled with soft structures for little climbers. Please note, the play area is closed daily for cleaning between 6-6:30pm.

Where: 14200 E Alameda Ave, Aurora, CO 80012

Town Center at Aurora is home to restaurants and children’s stores. It has several amusement options located throughout including a free play area for children 44” and under.

They’ve partnered with Aurora Public Library to host a free monthly Story Time on the first Thursday of every month from 10:30-11:30am.
